Adventure Care Experiences - Fly High With Ace!
Short answer - no.
Absolutely. The reasonable and necessary supports you require in order to access the same opportunities as everyone else are exactly what your plan is for.
At Ace we don't use NDIS funds to pay for any part of a participant's holiday.
Generally we don't bill Short Term Accommodation. This funding has been coming under scrutiny lately and since October 3rd there is legislation that prohibits the use of NDIS funding to subsidise the cost of a holiday in any way.
Here is the wording from the new "no list" document - Supports that are not NDIS supports -
This means no more Short Term Accommodation being used to cover the accommodation and food costs associated with travel.
Short Term Accommodation is a support item that is designed to provide respite for the families of people living with disability who provide daily support in the home. In the future there may be limited circumstances in which we can provide STA services for participants who live with their informal supports. We are awaiting the release of new NDIS operational guidelines for STA before agreeing to provide these supports.
Our model is different to those providers who have billed short-term accommodation in the past.
We package up all the costs associated with travel including accommodation, airfares, staff accommodation, meal stipend and activities. We then pass this on to the participant as an out-of-pocket cost.
We provide support throughout the experience at an hourly rate for group activities. This is exactly the same way that support is provided for any other social program. It comes at significant less cost to the NDIS and the NDIS does not pay for any part of your holiday.
